Jillian York
Training: “Multimedia and digital communication in the EU and Neighbouring countries"
Jillian York is a writer and activist whose work examines the impact of technology on our societal and cultural values. Based in Berlin, she is the Director for International Freedom of Expression at the Electronic Frontier Foundation and a fellow at the Center for Internet & Human Rights at the European University Viadrina.
Her experiences include managing a large-scale research project on national-level internet censorship at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society; founding a platform for debate on Moroccan politics; live-blogging events for institutions such as the Ford Foundation; and consulting companies on their content policies.
Jillian York is featured frequently in global media, as a speaker at global events, and has written for Vice, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Al Jazeera, among other publications.
