Maria Zhdanova

Training: “Multimedia and digital communication in the EU and Neighbouring countries"

Maria Zhdanova is a media trainer and a senior lecturer at Mohyla School of Journalism (Kyiv, Ukraine), specializing in media management, digital storytelling and multimedia production. She currently works as digital strategist at StopFake – Ukraine’s pioneering fact-checking initiative. Maria’s expertise at StopFake involves social media as a journalism tool for search, verification and promotion. She carried out a case study on the use of computational propaganda in Ukraine for Oxford Internet Institute and served as a community manager for the Storyful agency at the Open Elections Ukraine project. Maria Zhdanova has over 8 years of experience working in Ukrainian media (Football TV Channel, Ukraine TV Channel and Hromadske International, Vogue Ukraine) and mentoring media startups. Her speaking engagements involved RightsCon in Toronto, #CIJSummer Conference 2017 in London, and TechCamp in Tutzing to name just a few. Regular WEASA speaker at the College of Europe.
